2. The Information We Collect
When you register for an account or purchase a ticket on Tixli, we collect the following essential information:
- Identity Data: First name, last name, or username.
- Contact Data: Email address and phone number (if acting as a Host).
- Transaction Data: Details about payments (processed securely via Yoco) and the events you have purchased tickets for. Note: Tixli does not store your credit card numbers.
- Technical Data: A session cookie that keeps you signed in, plus basic log data needed to operate and secure the platform.
We rely on trusted third-party processors to run Tixli: Yoco for secure payment processing and a dedicated email delivery provider for transactional emails such as your digital tickets, event reminders, and account notifications. These processors only handle the data necessary to provide their service and are contractually bound to protect it.
3. Sharing Data with Event Hosts
Because Tixli acts as a ticketing intermediary, when you RSVP or purchase a ticket to an event, your Name and Email Address are securely shared with the Organizer (Host) of that specific event.
This sharing is strictly necessary for the Host to:
- Manage their venue capacity and generate an accurate Guest List.
- Verify your identity and scan your digital ticket at the door.
- Contact you directly regarding critical event updates, cancellations, or venue changes.
By purchasing a ticket on Tixli, you explicitly consent to this transfer of information to the respective Host.
4. Obligations of Event Hosts
Under Tixli's Terms of Service, Event Hosts are considered "Operators" under POPIA. They are bound to use your Name and Email to manage the event you booked and to keep you informed about important updates to it.
A Host may also retain your details in their private Contact Log within Tixli and use it to invite you to their own future events. This is limited to the Host you booked with. Hosts remain strictly prohibited from selling your data or adding you to unrelated third-party marketing lists. You can opt out of a Host's invitations at any time by replying to the invitation email or contacting support@tixli.co.za, and you may ask us to remove you from a Host's Contact Log.
5. Data Security
We have put in place appropriate technical and organizational security measures to prevent your personal data from being accidentally lost, used, or accessed in an unauthorized way. All passwords are cryptographically hashed, and data is transmitted over secure SSL connections.
6. Your Rights Under POPIA
As a Data Subject in South Africa, you have the right to:
- Request access to the personal information we hold about you.
- Request correction of incomplete or inaccurate data.
- Request deletion of your account and personal data, provided it is no longer legally required for transaction records.
